Hottest September In Japan In 125 Years
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the average temperature in the country in September was 2.66 degrees Celsius (36.78 Degrees Fahrenheit) higher than usual. In its statement, the met agency said, “The highest figure since the start of statistics in 1898”. The average temperature for summer, from June to August were the highest since recordkeeping began and the trend continued throughout September.
By region, there were higher average temperatures in northern and eastern Japan by more than 3.1 degrees and by 2.3 degrees in Western Japan. For September, 111 out of 153 locations had record-high temperatures for this month. On September 28, the temperature reached 35 degrees in the Shizuoka and Kofu cities.
