New Delhi: In a major boost to India’s electronics manufacturing sector, the Tata Group is set to start making iPhones in India for domestic and global markets. This was announced by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Information Technology, on August 4, 2023. The Tata Group recently took over Wistron’s iPhone assembly operations in India. Wistron is a Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer that has been assembling iPhones in India since 2017, as per  a report carried by news agency ANI.

These ‘Made in India’ iPhones will cater to both domestic and global markets, elevating India’s reputation as a significant player in the world of electronics manufacturing.
