Ranchi: An Indian student, a resident of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, died mysteriously in Italy a day after the New Year. Ram Raut, who was studying MBA in Italy and living in rented accommodation, died on January 2. His family learned about his demise when they called him to extend New Year greetings, but he didn’t attend their call. According to the police, the deceased’s parents then contacted the owner of the house, who informed them that Ram was found dead in the washroom of another house.

After learning of his death, Ram Raut’s family approached senior government officials and public representatives of Jharkhand and requested them to bring his body back to India so that they can perform the last rites as per Hindu tradition.

West Singhbhum’s Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal, stated that he had received a request from Ram’s parent and had informed the Home Department and the state migration cell for necessary action.
Mittal assured that police are monitoring all the developments regarding the case and are also in constant touch with the deceased’s family.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
