Washington: In a shocking incident a man set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington on Sunday, Reuters reported citing authorities. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital after the flames were extinguished by the US Secret Service officers.
A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson confirmed that the man’s condition is critical. A police team and the Secret Service have initiated a probe regarding the incident.
It is worth noting that, Israel’s embassy has been under fire for protests against the war in Gaza. pro-Palestinian are protesting against Israel in the US after IDF entered Gaza strip.
The pro-Israel protests started after October 7 when Hamas militants killed as many as 1,200 Israelis and took 253 people back in Gaza strip as hostages.
Since that time, Israeli forces have conducted a military campaign against the coastal enclave, causing extensive damage, with nearly 30,000 people reported dead, according to Palestinian health officials.
