Uttar Pradesh Crime: In a horrifying incident, a five-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped for ransom, and murdered by her own uncle in a village of Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said Friday, adding that two accused, including the victim’s uncle, have been arrested.
Giving details, the police said that the girl’s uncle abducted the victim from her house in Pharaira village in Agra district on Tuesday evening and demanded a ransom of Rs 6 lakh to release her. The prime accused, Amit–the child’s uncle– was angry with the victim’s girl father over a land dispute, they said.
A senior official said the girl’s father was unable to arrange the ransom amount and decided to inform the police about the child’s abduction following which the cops launched a search operation to find the victim.
“During searches, police found the girl’s body dumped in a farm on the outskirts of the Pharaira village on Thursday,” the official said, adding that a case was filed and during investigation it emerged that the five-year-old had been kidnapped by her uncle, Amit, and his accomplice, Nikhil, both of whom were taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Amit confessed to kidnapping and killing his niece, police said, adding that the accused revealed that he was angry with the victim’s grandfather because he had “cheated” him by purchasing his land at below market price.
The accused told the police that he kidnapped the girl only to recover the amount of money he had lost in the land deal but later killed her because the girl’s father was unable to pay the ransom.
Amit also revealed that his friend, Nikhil, had helped him carry out the gruesome crime and the duo had taken the child to the latter’s farm, where they killed after her father did not pay the ransom amount.
A case of kidnapping and murder has been registered against the two accused and further investigations are underway, said an official.
