Once again, he sparked a social media firestorm by making remarks about LinkedIn users. A massive debate erupted on the internet after the Tesla owner mocked LinkedIn users with a zombie meme. His laughter at this online jab has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the recent wave of layoffs at his companies.

The SpaceX chief took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a meme featuring lifeless office employees surrounded by other workers with the same traits until all of them turn grey. Internet users interpreted the post as a jab at the platform’s professional networking culture, job seekers on the platform and its suggestions. The post immediately became viral, stating ‘when you accidentally spend more than five minutes on LinkedIn.’
The users also raised questions about Musk’s post as it comes in the wake of recent mass layoffs at his companies namely Tesla and SpaceX. Notably, mass layoffs were also happened tech giants such as Google. And the employees who got laid off from these companies are seeking job at LinkedIn and using it as a weapon to speak out against unfair treatment.

New Rival Emerges For X

According to the data, the global usage of LinkedIn’s Android app grew by 14%, while Twitter’s app usage declined by 20% in the same period. LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, has emerged as a strong rival to X and Musk is well aware of the fact. As per TechCrunch, as of March LinkedIn’s users traffic witnessed a major boost of 10.6% compared to 2023. On a contrary, X witnessed a decline of 15.2% in website traffic.
