New Delhi: Temperatures in whole of North India have been on an all-time low and the plunging temperatures are also accompanied by dense fog in most parts of North India, resulting in poor or no visibility. The lack of visibility has adversely affected the rail and flight operations and apart from them, road travel has also been affected. This is the season where most road accidents take place because visibility on the roads, especially during early mornings and late nights is extremely poor. In a latest news update, two buses have collided with each other in Mathura, on the Yamuna Expressway, injuring at least 40 people. The main cause of this accident is believed to be dense fog.
Accident On Mathura-Yamuna Expressway, Buses Collide
As mentioned earlier, at least 40 people were injured in an accident early Monday morning in which two buses collided with each other on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, officials said today. The incident occurred at the Mile Stone 110 Raya Cut in Mathura. The accident occurred at around 3 am when a bus on its way from Dholpur to Noida collided with another bus which was headed to Etawah to Noida.
Injured Admitted In Hospitals, Cause Of Accident Dense Fog
Low visibility due to fog is being said to be a contributing factor to the incident. Parts of north India remains engulfed in dense fog with reduced visibility. Officials said that 31 injured passengers were admitted to the district hospital, while nine other injured individuals were admitted to other hospitals. More details on the same are awaited.
Red Alert Issued By IMD Due To Fog
“Very dense fog layer extends over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Passengers on highways need to drive extremely carefully and only with fog lights,” the IMD posted from its X handle. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert given cold and dense fog conditions in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), including Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The weather office also said a red alert has been issued in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh and yellow alert has also been issued in Rajasthan.
