Uttar Pradesh Crime: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man was fatally shot by bike-borne gunmen in Patti area of Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district. Shockingly, the three shooters were hired by the victim’s own teenage son, a 16-year-old boy who has now been detained, the police said Saturday.

According to the police, the victim, Mohammed Naeem, 50– a businessman by profession– was gunned down by motorcycle-borne assailants in Patti area of Pratapgarh district on Thursday.

A senior police officer said the three shooters, identified as Piyush Pal, Shubham Soni and Priyanshu, were arrested by the police and during the course of interrogation, revealed that that they had been hired to kill Naeem by his own teenage son.

“During interrogation, the accused informed police that they were allegedly hired by Naeem’s son for the crime,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Durgesh Kumar Singh, adding that the minor was later detained by the police,

“The minor told us that he hired the arrested shooters to murder his father and promised to pay them Rs 6 Lakh. He paid Rs 1.5 lakh in advance with an assurance that he will pay the remaining amount once they kill his father,” the officer said.

As per the police, the 16-year-old was angry at his father because he “didn’t give him enough money” and thus hatched a plot to get rid of him.

“The minor said that he often used to steal money from the shop or jewellery from the house to fulfil his wishes. He had planned to get his father killed even in the past but failed,” the officer said.

Police have sent the arrested shooters to jail while the minor has been admitted to the juvenile centre, the SP said, adding that further investigation in the case is underway.
